Renovating your home with energy efficient retrofits could earn you up to $10,000 in Ontario and Federal Rebates. The more energy-saving upgrades you make, the more money you will get back. Note that the amount of money you get back is not based on the amount of money you spent. You could spend less than you will be getting back or you could spend more than you will be getting back.

First you will need to schedule your Home Energy Audit. You can find an Energy Advisor by entering your postal code. Get quotes from the Auditors, the approximate cost of an Audit is $300 - $350 of which the Ontario Government will pay half of your pre-retrofit audit up to $150.

During your audit your Energy Advisor will locate your home's energy leaks and show what you can do to plug them. You will obtain a personalized Energy Efficiency Evaluation Report and a plan to help you reduce your energy bills. Your report will include your home's EnerGuide rating.

You will have 18 months to complete some or all of the improvements suggested by your Energy Advisor to qualify for the government rebates.
